Camp payments

Camp payment processing built into registration

Campio processes camp payments through Stripe as part of the registration itself, so the payment, the discount, the installment plan and the refund all stay attached to the player's record and settle to the provider's own account.

Short answer

Camp payment processing means taking registration fees online and reconciling them against players automatically. Campio uses Stripe: card payments, deposits, automatic installments, discount codes, add-on products and regional methods such as MobilePay and Venmo where available, paid out to the provider's own connected account.

Payment links sent by email are the usual starting point, and the usual source of error: a payment with no player attached, a family charged twice, a discount applied verbally and forgotten.

Processing payment inside registration removes the reconciliation step entirely. This page explains what Campio supports and how the money moves.

What Campio's payment handling covers

Card payments through Stripe

Checkout is hosted by Stripe, so card data never touches the provider's systems, and each payment is linked to the exact registration that created it.

Installments and deposits

Split a fee across scheduled payments collected automatically from the saved card, or take a deposit at sign-up and collect the balance closer to the camp.

Discount codes

Percentage or fixed-amount codes, limited to a camp or valid across all activities, with usage limits and validity dates, applied in checkout before payment.

Add-on products

Sell kit, meals, accommodation or extra sessions alongside the registration fee in the same checkout.

Payouts to your account

Providers connect their own Stripe account, so registration income settles directly to them, net of the platform fee and transaction fee.

Reconciliation and reporting

Paid, pending and manual payments are visible per registration, with revenue per activity and automatic reconciliation of stuck payments.

What to require from camp payment processing

The practical requirements, and how Campio meets them.

What to look forHow Campio handles it
Payments tied to a playerEvery payment is created from a registration and stored against that player record.
Flexible payment timingFull payment, deposit plus balance, or automatic installments.
Discounts without manual mathsDiscount codes applied in checkout, with redemption counted after successful payment.
Local payment habitsRegional methods such as MobilePay and Venmo are offered where the currency and market support them.
Money to the providerFunds settle to the provider's own connected Stripe account.
Clear feesA fixed platform fee plus a transaction fee on paid registrations; free to publish a camp.

How the money moves

A family completes registration and pays in Stripe Checkout. The payment is confirmed back to the registration, which flips to paid, triggers the confirmation email and counts toward the camp's capacity and revenue.

Funds settle into the provider's connected Stripe account. The platform fee and transaction fee are separated at the time of payment, so the provider's payout is already net and there is no invoice to chase afterwards.

Refunds, failed payments and manual payments

Failed or abandoned checkouts leave the registration unpaid rather than half-created, and a reconciliation job resolves payments that completed in Stripe but did not report back.

Payments taken outside the platform — bank transfer, cash or Zelle — can be recorded manually against the registration so the roster and the revenue figures still match reality.

Setting up payments

  1. Connect Stripe

Create or link a Stripe account from the provider settings; onboarding is handled by Stripe.

  2. Set your currency and prices

Choose the provider currency, then set price segments per age group, session or period.

  3. Decide the payment terms

Full payment, deposit, or installment plan, plus any discount codes.

  4. Publish and sell

Registrations pay in checkout and appear as paid on the camp's registration overview.

Frequently asked questions

How do camps take payments online?

The registration form ends in a hosted Stripe Checkout. The payment is confirmed back to the platform, marks the registration paid and settles to the camp provider's own Stripe account.

Can camps offer payment plans?

Yes. Installment plans are collected automatically from the saved card on a schedule, and unpaid installments are visible per registration.

Can we use discount codes?

Yes. Percentage or fixed-amount codes can apply to all activities or a single camp, with usage limits and validity dates. Usage limits are counted across all users, not per family.

Which payment methods are supported?

Cards through Stripe, plus regional methods such as MobilePay and Venmo where the market and currency support them.

Who receives the money?

The camp provider, through their own connected Stripe account. The platform fee and transaction fee are deducted at payment time.

Can we record a payment taken offline?

Yes. Bank transfers, cash or other offline payments can be marked manually against the registration.
